Obituary

Barbara Ann DeSimone (nee' Schmidt), age 81, of Ocean City, NJ and formerly of Dresher, PA passed unexpectedly on January 15, 2024.

Barbara was born and raised in Philadelphia to the late Vivian (nee' Smith) and Raymond W. Schmidt. Barbara and her husband Gino N. DeSimone lived for many years in Dresher, PA, in the home he built, where they raised their three children. She supported Gino in the founding and operation of their family business, Kirks Lane Lamp Parts, Bristol, PA, which continues operation in the family.

Barbara loved to be near the ocean and resided in Ocean City, NJ since 1990. She lived and breathed for her family, most especially for her grandchildren whom she referred to as the "Fab 5" or "F-5". She cherished the many summers with her children and grandchildren enjoying longs days on the beach, arts & crafts projects and family dinners at her Ocean City home.  Barbara also loved to travel with her whole family, including their annual trips to Mexico. Being with her family was most important to her and she was proud that she maintained close relationships with her grandchildren as they grew to adulthood.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gino N. Desimone, in 1988, and is survived by here loving children, Raymond DeSimone and his wife Donna, Grant DeSimone and his wife Bunny and Caroline DeSimone, as well as by her cherished grandchildren, Gina DeSimone, Anna DeSimone, Rocco DeSimone, Carolena DeSimone and Christian DeSimone. Barbara was also predeceased by her companion, Michael Heron, and is survived by his grandchildren, Jillian Heron and Jacob Heron, with whom she kept a close relationship. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Caroline Darpino, along with many nieces, nephews and their families, as well as her close friend Diane Neuman.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by her funeral service at 11:00 AM all at the Jarrettown United Methodist Church, 1460 N. Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
