Barbara A. McColgan, age 84, of Delran, NJ passed peacefully on Easter Sunday morning, April 9, 2023.

Barbara was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. where she grew up with her mom and dad Gordon and Sarah and her brother, Lee.  Barbara spent almost all of her summers from the time she was ten until her early 20's in Cape May and Cape May Point where her parents had a home.   Following high school at Bartram High, she began working for Bell Telephone and through her work met her husband, Mark McColgan, at an employee picnic in 1964. Following their marriage in 1966 they moved to Delran and began their family on 21 Stevens Drive -- where Barbara lived the rest of her years.

Barbara was an active parishioner at the Church of the Holy Name, Delran for many years and was also a weekly adorer in the Adoration Chapel where she was a Captain as well.  She was also an active member of the Women's Club and PTA of Delran during the time that Michael and Sean were in school.  Barbara also helped as a "swim mom" at Tenby Chase Swim Club for the 11 years that her sons swam there --- helping to look after her sons and the other kids during swim meets.  She is probably best known as a Crossing Guard for Delran Schools, which she did for over 30-years on Conrow Rd, where the Elementary School is and on Chester Ave in front of the Middle School.  She also worked in the Millbridge Elementary school cafeteria for 8 years.  Later in life Barbara loved to read and especially enjoyed watching the Lifetime Channels, which she referred to as "trash" -- and for a bit of fairy tale viewing -- the Hallmark Channel.  She was also an avid viewer of Fox News - especially "The Five", "Jesse" and "Tucker".

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 34 years, Mark David McColgan, Barbara is survived by her loving sons, Michael McColgan of Delran, NJ and Sean McColgan and his wife Jenn of Riverside, NJ, along with her grandchildren, Shane, Kevin, Caitlin, Holly and Tara, as well as her great-granddaughter, Alanna. She is also survived by her best friends and beloved companions, her cats, Mrs. Smooglesworth and Socks, and by her dear friends, including Sally, Carol, Winnie, Joanne, Marilyn and Pat W of Cape May - as well as many other family and friends from over the years.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM followed by her Memorial Service at 11:30 AM all at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077 (856-829-2700).
