Catherine A.
Barrett
Jul 19, 1927 — Dec 22, 2025
Catherine A. Barrett (née Milligan) passed away peacefully at Virtua Voorhees Hospital on December 22nd, 2025, surrounded by her loving children, at the age of 98.
Catherine was born in Philadelphia in 1927 to the late Joseph and Margaret Milligan. She loved to tell stories of her warm and loving upbringing with her seven siblings and of her time as a student at John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School.
In 1953, Catherine married John Paul Barrett of Rochester, New York. They spent the early years of their marriage in Philadelphia before moving to New Jersey, Palmyra and later to Delran, where they began raising their family. In 1972, they settled in Scotch Plains, NJ where they made their home for more than three decades. Following their retirement in 2003, they relocated to Hainesport, NJ where they could be closer to their loving family.
Catherine's Catholic faith was central to her life and a constant source of strength, guiding her generosity and compassion throughout the years. Catherine had a long career as a legal secretary and worked well into her later years, eventually retiring at the age of 75. She found great enjoyment in reading and had a lifelong love of movies. Her deeply held political convictions and interest in current events kept her reading the daily paper well into her later years.
Catherine was smart, joyful, generous, loving and always positive and was therefore truly appreciated and loved by everyone who met her. She enjoyed cooking and always loved a good party but, above all, she loved her family.
Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul and is survived by her children, Paul, Margaret, Anne Marie and Christine, her sons-in-law Darin and Jason, her former daughter-in-law Debbie and her grandchildren, Sean, Kristen, Catherine, Sarah, James, Liam, and Elizabeth. As the last surviving member of her original family, Catherine was preceded in death by her siblings Margaret, Charles, Harry, Joseph, Marie, Jack, and Anne, as well as many beloved in-laws. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Visitations for Catherine will be held on Sunday, December 28th, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Monday, December 29th, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, both at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 4th and Linden Ave., Riverton, NJ. Interment will then follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. Luncheon to follow at Riverton Country Club, all are welcome as Catherine loved a great party!
