Obituary

Donald Neil Proebstle, (69), of Cinnaminson, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who has left a legacy of love, kindness, humor, and strength.

Don was born in Puerto Rico on Ramey Air Force Base to Phyllis and Donald Proebstle.

He grew up in Gibbsboro, NJ, and graduated from Eastern High School in 1974. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Business from Xavier University in 1978.

Don had a distinguished career in the vitamin industry - working in sales as a District and Corporate Manager with many companies over the years. He was a great salesman and had a tremendous knowledge of the industry he enjoyed so much. Don took immense pride in his work and, more than anything, loved to help people.

Don married his wife Liz on November 7, 1981. Together, they raised three daughters: Stacy, Heather, and Holly in Cinnaminson.

An avid sports fan, you could often find Don cheering on his favorite teams – the New York Giants or the Philadelphia Flyers. His biggest passion was baseball and he loved rooting for the LA Dodgers. Most recently, he became a baseball umpire for the local high school teams. Don also loved playing and watching tennis and frequently made the trip to Long Island to catch the U.S. Open.

Aside from his love of sports, Don enjoyed being outdoors. Don spent many summers with his wife and children at the beach in Ocean City; swimming in the ocean, building sandcastles with the kids, and riding his bike on the boardwalk – ending with a donut at Browns. He also enjoyed surf-cast fishing with his good friends. Don was a true meteorologist at heart and always knew about the weather forecast and the tide cycles.

One of Don's favorite places was his family's summer home in Onawa Lake, Maine. You could often find him in the lake canoeing, fishing, kayaking, and swimming. He loved climbing to the top of Borestone Mountain with his daughters and of course enjoying some fresh lobster.

Don was a true music lover. He would sit and watch the music channel, play air guitar, and sing while everyone danced. He always knew every instrument the band was playing, when and where the song was recorded and who produced the album.

Don had a great memory and would recite random trivia facts and statistics about sports teams. He loved all kinds of movies and knew every line in them.

His biggest love of all was his wife Liz and his family. They shared a wonderful life together for 44 years. He loved his three daughters and grandchildren very much. He was so proud of all of them.

Everyone knew Don as the "big guy" with the loud voice. He had a larger-than-life personality and was a lot of fun to be around. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him and will forever be in our hearts.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Elizabeth (Stevenson); daughters, Stacy Georgaklis and husband Jesse of Bayville, NJ; Heather Cappelletto and husband Dustin of Dallas, TX; and Holly Proebstle of Cinnaminson, NJ; brothers Michael and Mark; six beautiful grandchildren, Summer, Hayden, Tyler, Gavin, Dylan, and Raelynn; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Phyllis, and his brother, Eric.
