Dorene
Grocott
Jun 3, 1929 — Mar 16, 2026
Dorene Grocott, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 16. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis "Frank" Grocott, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage and a lifetime of love and partnership.
Born and raised in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Dorene spent her early years working in her family's pottery factories and was especially proud of her work as a flower modeler. Dorene was also an incredible athlete – playing netball, rounders and the anchor on the track and field team.
Dorene came to the United States in 1967 aboard the Queen Elizabeth 1, accompanied by her son Mark. There, she and Frank began a new chapter together, building a home filled with family, faith, and enduring friendships.
Dorene devoted much of her life to education, serving as a dedicated Catholic school teacher who was deeply respected by her colleagues and students alike. Dorene was passionate about American History and her commitment to teaching earned her recognition from the Diocese of Trenton, reflecting both her professional excellence and her genuine care for the children she taught. In addition to her classroom work, Dorene shared her love of gymnastics with countless young people in Willingboro, New Jersey, helping many find confidence and joy through movement.
She was the proud mother of Steven Grocott and Mark Grocott (Sheryl Telford), and was adopted as a grandmother by Kelly DeMontigney. Dorene's passion for life extended beyond her family and teaching. Building on her early interest in athletics, she was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, especially Olympic track and field and gymnastics. She found delight in decorating her home for the seasons, a tradition she joyfully continued until her passing.
Dorene's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and the power of lifelong friendships. She will be remembered as a strong, independent woman who knew her own mind and inspired all who knew her with her kindness, spirit, and determination.
