Edward F.
Schaffer
Sep 13, 1940 — Sep 5, 2024
Edward F. Schaffer, age 83, of Moorestown, NJ and former longtime resident of Riverside, NJ, passed suddenly on September 5, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Eddie was born on September 13, 1940 to the late Lucy G. (nee Belli) and Francis A. Schaffer. He grew up in Riverside, NJ, graduating from Riverside High School and remained a longtime resident until moving to Moorestown, NJ in 2005.
Ed was well known throughout South Jersey as "The Beer Man" due to his 50+ year career working in sales for several area Beer Distributors. His career began with Burns Beverage and continued through various company mergers until his retirement from Warren Distributors. Throughout his years he formed many lasting friendships with his clients and enjoyed helping their businesses thrive. There was rarely anywhere he would go with his family that he didn't know someone through his work and friendly, helpful nature.
Eddie was always a "local boy" who enjoyed many great times at the Polish American Citizens Club, VFW Post 3020, Riverside Turners and Ott's Tavern, among others. He had been an avid Golfer, playing many times at Willowbrook Country Club in Moorestown where he made many lasting friendships. Most of all, Ed loved his family and marveled at his most recent role as "Pop-Pop" to his grandchildren, Carter and Leila, who gave him great joy and purpose in his life. Together with his wife Kathy, they spent every weekday with their grandchildren, caring for them, playing with them, loving them and sharing a very close bond.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Lucy G. and Francis A. Schaffer, and by his sister, Linda Schaffer. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 30-years, Kathy H. Schaffer (nee Huelin), by his loving daughter, Kristen L. Schaffer Bear and her husband Taylor Bear, and by his dear grandchildren, Carter Edward Bear and Leila Grace Bear. Ed is also survived by his many cousins and their families, as well as by many close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, all at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Burial will follow at Monument Cemetery, Beverly, NJ.
Contributions in his memory to the American Stroke Association www.stroke.org would be appreciated. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with his family at www.weberfuneralhomeinc.com
