Elizabeth P. Shevlin, “Betsy”, (nee Hoad), age 80 of Medford Lakes, NJ passed peacefully on October 19, 2026.

Betsy was born in 1946 to Mary E. (nee Sanford) and Paul M. Hoad. Betsy grew up in Riverton and was a graduate of Palmyra High School. Following high school she worked for Bell Telephone before starting her family. Betsy married Frank V. Shevlin, Jr. and they settled in Pennsauken for a few years where they began their family. They moved to Medford Lakes to raise their children and remained residents there for over 40-years.

Betsy was very involved in the Medford Lakes community, especially as her children were growing up. She served as a Field Hockey Coach, Brownie & Girl Scout Leader and was very active with the PTA. Betsy spent many years as a Pre-School Teacher at the Day Bear Care nursery school and she served many summers as a Swim Instructor at Colony Camp.

She was a 40+ year parishioner of St. Mary of the Lakes Parish, Medford, NJ and a CCD Volunteer there for many years. Above all else, Betsy’s focus was on her family, especially her children, grandchildren and her husband. She loved having a beautiful home where she enjoyed gardening, baking and hosting family meals and get togethers. Betsy also enjoyed sewing and proudly made her grandchildren’s costumes each year for Halloween. Her greatest joy was being “Grammy” to her beloved grandchildren, Emily and Derek.

Betsy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Frank V. Shevlin, Jr. and is survived by her loving children, Samantha Andryca and her husband Scott, and Christoper Shevlin, along with her dear grandchildren, Emily Andryca and Derek Andryca. Also surviving are her siblings, Carolyn Mortgu-Furrer (Jerry), Steve Hoad (the late Helen) and George Hoad (Susan), her brothers-in-law, Johnny Shevlin and Bob Shevlin, and her dear friend Barbara Posch. Betsy is also survived by her nieces, nephew and their families.
