Erich E. Veitenheimer, Jr. formerly of Riverton, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 23rd, he was 100.
Erich was born in Cinnaminson, NJ to the late Erich and Martha Veitenheimer. He served proudly in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during WWII, landing in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, Erich married the love of his life, Ellen (nee Chambers.) He was a retired electrician for the State of New Jersey, an avid bowler for many years, avid Philly sports fan, and was the oldest member of Palmyra Moravian Church.
Erich was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ellen, as well as siblings, Elizabeth Horner, Thomas Veitenheimer, Elmer Veitenheimer, and Evans Veitenheimer. He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Ingram, and granddaughter, Erica (David) Ingram.
A viewing for Erich will be held on Friday, September 26th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm, all at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077. Entombment and military honors will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Erich's name may be made to the Palmyra Moravian Church, 1921 Cinnaminson Ave., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077 or to Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter, www.friendsofbcas.org
