Florence M. “Dolly” Gavin of Moorestown, NJ passed away Saturday September 5, 2026 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Gavin (nee Ingles). Florence was the youngest of 9 children and is predeceased by 5 siblings John (Patricia), James (Theresa), Agnes Leonard (Bill), Anna Patricia Gallagher (Eugene) and Wayne (Dolores). She is also predeceased by her lifetime partner Bonnie McMullen. Florence leaves behind her 3 siblings William (the late May), Margaret McPoyle (the late Stephen) and Sarah Palm (Albert). She also leaves behind her beloved dog Wendy who was her pride and joy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Florence (Dolly, as known to family) spent her lifetime teaching children.  Ended up as Principal of H. H.Davis Elementary in Camden from 1987-2003. According to her friends this was her favorite job.  She took care of her aging mother Agnes until Agnes passed. Over the years Florence & Bonnie had many pets! Usually multiple dogs & cats.  Dolly enjoyed watching the Phillies, was an avid reader, loved crosswords, cryptograms, sudoku and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.  Any time you came to visit she went out of her way to make you feel at home. Always had your favorite food and drink & made sure you were comfortable.  She knew all 42 of her nieces & nephews by name, their spouses & children & most of their birthdays & addresses.  Florence “Dolly “ would help anyone in need. Selfless, kind soul with a huge heart & she will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend Florence’s viewing on Monday September 14th at 9:30 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 West Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Her Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 also at the church. Interment, Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Moorestown, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ASPCA.org
