Obituary

Geraldine Marie Entwistle, nee Taylor

Geraldine T. Entwistle, aged 91, of Merchantville, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023, from Pneumonia.

"Gerrie"" was born on December 11, 1931 to Mary Elizabeth Taylor, nee Mitchell, and Everett Amos Taylor, in Mt. Holly, NJ. She was friendly, empathetic, and naturally intuitive. She loved to ice skate, sled, and climb trees as a child, growing up first in town, and then later, on an outlying Mt. Holly farm. She rode the horses, which were kept there, and swam in the Rancocas Creek, which ran right behind the farm.

Gerrie excelled in school, as an honor student who also won several spelling bees. However, she was most known for her energetic nature and lighthearted sense of humor, loving to play the small practical joke on an unsuspecting soul.  After Gerrie graduated from Mt. Holly HS in 1949, she went on to study Nursing at West Jersey School of Nursing, graduating in 1952 as an RN. She began work at Mt. Holly Hospital as a Maternity/Delivery room nurse. In later years, she was an ICU and CCU nurse at Zurbrugg Hospital in Riverside, NJ, and also nursed at The Evergreens in Moorestown.

In 1951, Gerrie met her future husband, Paul, a WW2 Navy veteran, at the Dancette Ballroom in Oaklyn, NJ. They married in 1953, and went on to raise their 3 children, first in Burlington, then in 1962, in Cinnaminson, where they remained for the next twenty years. Many family memories were made, in the 1960's and 1970s, while camping and hiking in the PA Appalachian mountains, as well as in an old Victorian rental in Wildwood, NJ.  After Paul retired, the couple moved to Merchantville, with many winters enjoyed at their small home in Bradenton, FL. Gerrie loved the beach, and swam well into her late 80's.

Gerrie was predeceased by her husband, Paul, her brother, Everett (Eddie), and her grandson, Brian. She is survived by her children, David (Ann) Entwistle, Susan (Ron) Kolarovic, and Bonnie (Jeff) Dubrow, her sister, Mary Lou Esposito, eight grandchildren: Julia (Luc) and Paul Entwistle, Adam (Marisa) and Jeffrey Kolarovic, Gretchen (Luke), Ilsa, and Gunnar Cline, and J. Cooper Dubrow,  two great grandchildren, Gloriana Kolarovic and Benjamin Kolarovic, In- laws, Marlyn (George) Lady and Kenneth (Janice) Entwistle, as well as many nieces and nephews.
