Howard W.
Norcross
Feb 12, 1948 — Jun 11, 2026
Howard William Norcross, "Butch", age 78, a lifelong resident of Palmyra, NJ, passed on June 11, 2026 at home with his family by his side.
Howard was born in 1948 to Laura H. (nee' Robinson) and Howard A. Norcross and grew up in Palmyra, graduating from Palmyra High School. Upon graduating from high school, Butch was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country in Vietnam.
Following his service in the Army, Howard returned to Palmyra and began his lifelong career in Law Enforcement, joining the Palmyra Police Department in 1970. Howard dedicated 36-years to the Palmyra PD, retiring as the department's Lieutenant in 2006.
After his official retirement he would return to serve as the School Resource Officer at Palmyra High School for several years before finishing his law enforcement career as an Officer for the Burlington County Bridge Commission Police. Butch especially enjoyed his time working at the high school where he went out of his way to connect with the students, encourage them to study and work hard to achieve their dreams. He also established the Thomas Whitelock Memorial Scholarship Fund and would select graduating high school students each year to receive money towards continuing their education.
Howard's commitment to his hometown community extended beyond his police work. He was a longtime member of the Independence Fire Company No. 1, Palmyra, a member of the Palmyra War Memorial Committee and served several terms on Palmyra Borough Council. When he wasn't working he enjoyed travelling with his wife Donna, especially to their favorite cabin getaway, as well as spending time hunting and he was known for his sweet tooth!
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Donna E. Norcross (nee' Allen), by his loving children, John Stanton and wife Barbara, Bryan Norcross and wife Stacey, Carmen Norcross and partner Tara, Gina Bozarth and husband Lyman, and Scott Norcross and wife Chelsie, and by his dear grandchildren, Megan, John & Nicholas, Connor & Kacie, and Henley & Beau. Also surviving are his brother, Robert G. Norcross and husband Andrew McIntosh, sister Deborah N. Allen, brother-in-law Mark Allen, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their extended families along with many friends.
Howard was predeceased by his parents, Laura H. and Howard A. Norcross, his brother Dean Norcross, his in-laws, Joan A. and William D. Allen, Sr. and brothers-in-law, Michael Allen and William D. Allen, Jr.
