James Leo Bowker, age 67, of Voorhees, NJ passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Leo was raised in Delran, NJ and was a 1974 graduate of Riverside High School. For several years, Leo resided in Riverside before moving to Voorhees with his wife. Leo was the owner of Lightning Services, providing courier services for many years before joining Elite Medical Transportation where he worked for 15 years before retiring two years ago.

Leo was a very kind and happy-go-lucky person, affectionately known as a "gentle giant", with a great sense of humor who enjoyed telling jokes to make people laugh. He truly loved spending his summer weekends on his boat and on the beach on Long Beach Island. Leo was a talented baseball pitcher as a young man and was a huge Philadelphia sports fan, especially of the Phillies. He enjoyed all kinds of music, attending numerous concerts of his favorite artists.

Leo was predeceased by his father, James A. Bowker, and his stepdaughter, Valerie Catherine Sannuti. He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Joanne R. Bowker (nee Nigro); his dear mother, Patricia F. Bowker; his stepdaughter, Natalie Rita Illiano (Gennaro); his siblings, Timothy (Christine), Christopher (Sandra), Douglas, Eileen Rafferty (Jeff), and Marianne Ahrens (David). Leo is also survived by his grandchildren, John Antonio Illiano and Milania "Mila" Angela Illiano; his nieces and nephews, Maureen and Kevin Bowker (fiancée, Heather Barth), Matthew and Colin Rafferty, and Sean and Riley Ahrens. Also surviving are many relatives and close friends, as well as his beloved dogs, Eli and Pearl.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, with visitation from 9:00 AM, all at Resurrection Parish, Holy Name Church Site, 260 Conrow Road, Delran, NJ 08075.
