Joan E
Kukawski
Mar 20, 1957 — Jan 4, 2020
Joan E. Kukawski (nee Sincavage) of Palmyra, NJ on Saturday, January 4, 2020, loving wife and mother passed away at the age of 62 surrounded by her loving family.
Survived by loving and devoted husband Michael, married for 38 cherished years. Also survived by daughters Nicole (Charlie) Hixon and Michelle Kukawski, father Henry Sincavage, brothers Gerard (Geralyn) Sincavage, Joe (Lisa) Sincavage, William Sincavage, brother-in-laws Mark (Suzanne) Kukawski, Chris (Nancy) Kukawski, and Paul Kukawski.
"Aunt Joanie" had many cherished nieces and nephews: Kristin, Kim, Mike, Mary Kate, Elizabeth, Matthew, Jason, Jill, Alicia, Melanie, and Kristen. Also grand-nephews: James, Sean, Conner, Hunter, and Levi.
Joan was formerly of Philadelphia's Wissinoming section. Graduated St. Hubert's in 1975 and then worked as a secretary at Messinger Bearings, where she met her husband Michael.
Joan dedicated many years as a wife and mother while also beginning her active membership at Sacred Heart Parish in Riverton NJ. She first served as a catechist for the CCD program. She then became a member of the first "baptism team", where she helped welcome new families to the parish, and met many life-long friends in the process. When returning to work, her deep faith then inspired her to take a business management position at Catholic Charities, where she supported emergency food, clothing and shelter programs for the homeless. She then carried her caring nature to Bayada Home Health Care, where her daughters, son-in-law, and nephew also work. Her most recent service to the Sacred Heart community was helping plan the yearly parish women's retreat in Long Beach Island.
When Joan was not busy at work, being a mom, or serving the church, Joan loved spending time with her family. On any given weekend, you would find Joan kicked back with her brothers with a cold beer and pretzels – as long as she was with her family, she was completely happy. She also loved to play "caddy "for her husband on their many golf outings together – a cold beer while riding shotgun in the golf cart was a very favorite pastime. She also loved to shop and had a reputation as the best gift-giver in the family.
To all of those that had the pleasure of knowing Joan please keep her hopeful and faithful spirit in your heart.
