Joanna R. Kirk, age 84, of Riverside, NJ, and formerly of Monroe, LA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, November 10, 2023.
Joanna was born in Riverside to the late John and Marie (nee Christian) Yoka. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1956 and attended St. Francis Hospital Nursing School in Trenton NJ. She retired from Larchmont Imaging as a Medical Transcriptionist. She was a parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo in Cinnaminson, NJ. Previously she was a parishioner at St. Casimir and St. Peters Church in Riverside, and Our Lady of Fatima Church in Monroe, LA. She was a Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader, and Den Mother in Riverside, NJ. She was a member of the Riverside Republican Club and Jaycees. She was also a County Committee Person for the Republican Party for Riverside Township. She was an avid hobby enthusiast and enjoyed collecting bird statues. Her daughters will lovingly remember her sewing clothes and Halloween costumes for them. She was an avid football fan especially when watching her son play.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Michael J. Kirk. They were married for 49 years at the time of his death. She is the mother of Dianne (Daniel) Kelly of Needham, MA, Rosella (Randall) Frerich of San Antonio, TX, and Matthew (Diana) Kirk of Riverside. She is the proud grandmother of Amanda, Michael, Kathryn, Sean, and Kelly and great-grandmother of Christian, Caeden, Lorelei, Emma Grace, Brynn, and Charlotte. Joanna is the sister of Rose Marie (William) Jenkins of Delran, NJ. She is also survived and sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, friends, and faithful cat Macy.
In keeping with Joanna's wishes, her funeral service and burial will be held privately.
