John H.
Hunter
Mar 5, 1948 — Aug 3, 2025
John H. Hunter, age 77, lifelong resident of Cinnaminson, NJ passed suddenly on August 3, 2025 doing what he loved, working on the Hunter family farm.
John was born in 1948 to Marjorie (nee' Chestnut) and Russell H. Hunter, living his entire life on the family's farm on Union Landing Road in Cinnaminson and was a graduate of Palmyra High School.
John truly loved farming and devoted himself to the craft of farming vegetables and fruits sustainably to ensure the ongoing viability of Hunter's Farm for generations. He was a longstanding member of many farming organizations committed to supporting farming in the greater New Jersey area, including a lifelong New Jersey Farm Bureau Member, past President of the Burlington County Board of Agriculture, a Director of the former Cooperative Growers Association, Tabernacle, NJ, and a former Director of the FSA. John was previously named the 2003 New Jersey Vegetable Grower of the Year and was a proud recipient of the Burlington County Farm Stewardship Award for Farmland Preservation.
John was a longstanding, active member of the Cross Keys Gun Club and a lifelong outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. Together with his late wife, Barbara, they shared a love for Tarpon fishing, enjoying many trips to the Florida Keys together with family and friends.
John's love for his family and friends was most important to him. He shared his passion for the outdoors and his knowledge of farming with his children and grandchildren. John ensured that Hunter's Farm and Hunter's Farm Market were preserved, and their family will continue to successfully operate the farm and market for generations to come.
John was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and Russell H. Hunter, his beloved wife, Barbara H. Hunter (nee' Gill), their daughter, Anne H. Hunter, and his sister, Dale Hunter Blackman. He is survived by his loving children, Amy L. Zorn and her husband Michael, John R. Hunter and his wife Holly, and by his dear grandchildren, Cole Hunter, Jake Hunter and Hailee Hunter. Also surviving are his nephews, Lee Blackman and Todd (Deborah) Blackman, his niece, Beth Blackman, along with many extended family members, his dear companion, Loretta Zorn, and many close, lifelong friends.
A viewing for John will be held for family members and close friends on Monday, August 11, 2025 beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM at the WEBER FUNERAL HOME, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
John's family is extremely grateful for the tremendous outpouring of care and support they have received from their many patrons, area residents and the entire farming community. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, donations to the John H. Hunter Memorial Scholarship Fund, mailed in care of Amy Zorn, 1101 Union Landing Road, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077, would be preferred.
