John Mcalack,
Jr.
Mar 25, 1935 — Sep 14, 2021
John McAlack Jr. finished his race, left the confines of his hospital room behind and was escorted by angels into the presence of his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. "John, well done, good and faithful servant!" He is together again with his wonderful wife, Charlotte.
John loved God and he desired to live his life in a way that might point others to Him. Over the years John served the Lord in many ways by organizing huge church picnics, superintending an incredible and expanding Sunday School program with over 70 teachers at First Baptist Church of Willingboro, driving a bus to pick up kids for church, leading a cutting-edge Children's Church program, ushering for decades of church services and productions at the Fountain of Life Center. John and Charlotte were greeters at Calvary Church in Delran and were famous for their warm and friendly smiles as they greeted everyone who entered and left church services. John was a technician and manager for the "God at Work" radio program featuring Pastor Marty Berglund, longtime Pastor of Fellowship Alliance Chapel. He also volunteered at Deborah Heart and Lung center for many years and was a member of the Zipper Club. John proudly served in the United States Naval Reserves as a Seabee.
John loved his family more than life itself. He married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte and they raised 6 children: Charlotte, John, Matthew, Elinor, Mary Ann, and Faith. They enjoyed day trips and vacations to the beach, hosting birthday and holiday parties, the gigantic Easter Day Treasure Hunt, pizza from Roses, Breyer's ice cream from Strouses, company picnics at Clementon Park, cook-outs in the backyard, egg salad sandwiches, "Ug-Giggy" rides for all the babies and horsy rides on his back. John enjoyed biking, fishing on the Barnegat Bay, boating and sailing when he could do these things with his family. John would give a double thumbs up and huge smile when leaving for a cruise and he was known to say, "As soon as I step on to the ship, I leave all my cares behind." John and Charlotte dearly loved their 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Armed with only a high school diploma, John's intelligence, creativity, and abilities to problem solve and to develop teams propelled him to the top of his field. He was a successful design engineer and supervisor where he designed several of our nation's nuclear and fossil fuel power plants. His impressive resume included key roles at New York Shipbuilding Corp. Camden, N.J., Catalytic Construction Co. Philadelphia, PA., United Engineers & Constructors Philadelphia, PA., Allstate's Design & Development Co. Trenton, N.J. & Linwood PA., Stone & Webster Engineering Co. Cherry Hill, N.J., and Sharp Design in Woodbury N.J. (retired 1996).
John wanted to sincerely thank the workers who tirelessly and tenderly cared for him and who became friends and adopted members of his own family. Thank you to Lourdes Hospital Camden CCU, Jefferson Hospital Cherry Hill CCU, and especially his beloved friends at Accuity Specialty Hospital in Willingboro, NJ.
John will be dearly missed but don't be sad for him. He is in his glory in the presence of Jesus and together again with Charlotte. If you hear the loud command, the voice of the arch angel and the trumpet call of God announcing Jesus' return, look just to the side of Jesus and you may see John riding bareback on a flying white stallion with Charlotte on the back, shouting in delight and raising their arms in VICTORY. You may even hear John blowing his whistle to announce the celebration and the treasure that comes through the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.
Services for John McAlack Jr. will be held on Tuesday, September 21 at Calvary Church in Delran, 317 Conrow Rd. Delran, NJ 08075. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Life Celebration Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken, NJ. "Y'all Come Now."
