Obituary

John H. Lorenz Jr. "Hoot", of Southampton passed away peacefully at home on March 11th. He was 82 years old. John was born and raised in Cinnaminson, NJ. John was son to the late Howard and Christina (nee Smith.) He was a longtime resident of Palmyra, moved to Mays Landing and retired to Dorchester and finally Sebastian, Florida. He most recently resided in Southampton, NJ.

John graduated from Palmyra High School. He worked for the International Union of Painters and Allied trades Local #1331. John was union president for twelve years and remained with the union until he retired. He loved what he did. It gave him the ability to raise a large family and do the things he enjoyed the most in life. John was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid duck hunter from the time he was a boy. John passed his love of duck hunting on to his sons. John also enjoyed fishing, being a baseball coach, making decoys and sneak box detailing. He was also a real estate investor, which turned into constructing his own homes in Mays Landing and Dorchester. He was a sporting clay shooter into retirement. He placed 13th in the country in the "Super Senior Division" and was a member of the Indian River Trap and Skeet Club.

John became a Catholic during his time in Florida and attended St. Sebastian Church. He enjoyed being involved in the church and volunteering his time to help others. He made many new friends at St. Sebastian.

John loved to brag and tell stories to his family and friends about his up-bringing with his Navy Veteran father and brothers.

But the things that John loved the most, were his phone calls with his children and grandchildren and when they came to visit him in Florida. He was always bragging about his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. No matter how big or small, he was always so proud of their accomplishments. John's family was everything to him.

"Do the things that make you happy, do them as much and as long as you can." This was a piece of advice that he shared in his last days. "Hoot" left his family a great legacy to carry on.

John is survived by his loving wife of over sixty years Judith A. (nee Wolfe), Children: Teresa L. (Ron) Mingin, Thomas P., Timothy J. (Lisa), John H., III (Alicia), Judith A. (John) Olsen. Grandchildren: Ryan (Amber) and Corey Mingin, Erika, Tracy and the late Tessa Lorenz, Bella Lorenz, Jordyn and Blake (Madison) Olsen. Great-Grandchildren: Jaeden, Kannon, Breckon, and Rowyn Mingin.
