Kathryn Cecilia Hughes-Downs

June 13, 1942 - December 7, 2022

At the age of 80, Kathryn Cecilia Hughes-Downs passed away in her Cinnaminson home after battling multiple myeloma. She was predeceased by her cherished sister Dorothea and two brothers, Louis and Walter Bobel, as well as her beloved husband of 24 years, William Richard Downs and his son, Richard Michael Downs.

A graduate of Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing, Kathryn then received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  She served as a registered nurse and administrative director in various locations including: Holy Redeemer Hospital of Meadowbrook, PA; Wood River Village of Bensalem, PA; Kennedy Healthcare in Turnersville; and Mount Holly Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in NJ. Her favorite pastimes included travels to Florida, Hawaii, and California as well as spending time with her husband and their family of furry felines. Kathryn's greatest calling as a nurse transpired during her final years of marriage as she devoted round the clock homecare to her husband.

Over the years, Kathryn opened her home to many rescued cats. A lover of nature, she enjoyed viewing the beautiful gardens, fish pond, and birds that frequented her backyard refuge. Kathryn was especially grateful for the visits and support she received from her caring neighbors, devoted friends and loving family members.

Kathryn is survived by: her nephews Michael Ramsey and Scott Ramsey; Scott's wife, Kim Ramsey and their son (and her great nephew) Liam; her niece Kelly Bobel and nephew Walt Bobel; her husband's family including Amy and Stephen Mazur, Susan and Iain Docherty, Jennifer and Frederick Neuhaus, and Lana Downs; as well as her step-grandchildren Lauren, Will, Taylor, Mason, Ian, Dante, Gia, Tori, Haley, Troy, and Jillian.

A visitation for Kathryn will be held on Sunday, December 18th from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm, all at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077.
