Obituary

Lois S. Steinbach (nee' Schultz), age 87, of Burlington, NJ, formerly of Annapolis and Davidsonville, MD, passed peacefully on May 9, 2024.

Lois was born in Danville, VA to the late Esther and Sterling Schultz, and was raised in California until her family relocated to New Jersey, where she met her husband of 63 years, Philip J. Steinbach. Lois and Phil began their family and lived in Riverton, NJ for  over 20 years before moving to Wayne, NJ and then to Maryland. They lived for many years in Davidsonville, MD and then Annapolis, MD where Lois was very active in her community. She enjoyed her time working as a school bus driver for the Anne Arundel County Schools and interacting with the students. Lois and Phil also served as sponsors for many Midshipmen who would stay with them in their home while attending the U.S. Naval Academy. They especially enjoyed providing these young men with a welcoming home while they were so far away from their own homes and formed many lasting relationships. Lois was a talented crafter who created many treasured items through her knitting, sewing, painting, pottery making and stained-glass creations.  Most of all she was devoted to her family.

Lois is survived by her beloved husband, Philip J. Steinbach, their children, Stefan Sutherin, David Steinbach (Gayle), Lore Tarantino (David), and Erika Cullember (Tony). Also surviving are her grandchildren, Olivia and Michael Sutherin, Adam, Kristen, Jason and Grace Tarantino, and J.P. and Anthony Cullember, along with her great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Sutherin. Lois is also survived by her brother, Robert Schultz, brother-in-law, Kurt Steinbach (Marsha), as well as her niece, nephews and their families.

Private services for Lois will be held at The Masonic Village at Burlington, NJ.
