Obituary

Louis DeAngelis, 73, of Palmyra, NJ, passed away on July 4, 2026. He died as he lived, in the most spectacular fashion with a firework send off celebration.

Lou was born on November 24, 1952 in New York to John and Lena DeAngelis, entering a large and loving Italian family. When his family eventually moved to Cinnaminson, NJ, he brought with him his love of music, joining and forming many bands. His band, "Friends," played together for the past 52 years, bringing classic rock sounds to weddings, parties, and parades throughout New Jersey.

He went on to a career in teaching, retiring in 2018 from Burlington Township Middle School. Lou was named Teacher of the Year in 2004 and 2010 for his accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom. His colleagues regularly described him as engaging, talented, and caring. Whenever Lou referred to his "kids," he meant the thousands of students he taught, mentored, ate lunch with, and played music with throughout his career. He was a brilliant teacher who brought life into the classroom and inspired many with his energetic and unique approach to learning.

Like the family he grew up in, Lou built his own large and loving family. Lou and Jane were married for 49 years and shared three daughters who admired him. In a home full of women, Lou knew just when to make a midnight snack of pasta, how to pick out a Homecoming dress, and, most importantly, how to show his girls what love is every day through his marriage with Jane.

Lou is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughters, Felicia, Julia, and Laura; his sons-in-law, Ryan, Matt, and Lekan; his seven grandchildren, whom he adored—Cole, Jaxon, JD, Macy, Myles, Obi, and Lou; and his siblings, Lib and Maria.

A visitation for Louis will be held on Saturday, July 11th from 10:00am to 10:45am, followed by family eulogies at 10:45 and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, all at Sacred Heart Church, 4th and Linden Ave., Riverton, NJ 08077.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Applaud Our Kids Foundation in the spirit of continuing his lifelong love and pursuit of teaching and music, www.https://applaudourkids.org/
