Mary Ruth Conyers (nee' Shaffer), age 84, of Cinnaminson, NJ, passed peacefully at her home while surrounded by her family on October 15, 2025.
Ruthie was born in 1940 to Marion and S. Fowler Shaffer in Riverside, NJ she grew up in Palmyra and Cinnaminson, and remained a lifelong resident. A proud graduate of Palmyra High School, Class of 1959, she remained very close with her group of friends "The J.A.C.K.S.", Just All Cool Kids, sharing many great times together.
Following high school, Ruthie met her husband, Charlie Conyers, marrying in 1961. She worked for a brief period of time for the Penn Mutual Insurance Company and also for many years with Charlie in their family business, S.F. Shaffer Pump and Supply, Cinnaminson. Together they settled in her childhood home in Palmyra and started their family. Ruthie was dedicated to her family and extremely active in supporting her children in their many activities, including soccer, baseball, field hockey, Cub & Boy Scouts, and Brownies among many others. She was every teacher's favorite "room mother" as her kids grew up and served many years in the PTA.
Ruth and Charlie were blessed with nearly 65 years of marriage, sharing a great love for each other and creating a beautiful life together. Ruthie and Charlie shared their love of family, friends, dogs and spending time at their shore house on Long Beach Island.
Ruthie was also a lifelong and active member of Palmyra Moravian Church in Cinnaminson, following a long family tradition. She has supported the church in many ways over the years including teaching Sunday School, teaching arts and crafts in Bible School, supervising the Junior Choir, advising youth group, organizing the annual Easter Egg Hunt, serving on many committees and volunteering her time.
Ruthie was predeceased by her parents, Marion (nee' King) and S. Fowler Shaffer, her sisters, Mary Lou Fisher and Nancy Neely-Houser as well as her sisters-in-law, Edith Early, Katherine Reynolds and Doris Richter. Ruthie is survived by her beloved husband of 65-years, Charles "Charlie" W. Conyers, her loving children, Charles "Chip" Conyers and his wife Rachel, Todd Conyers and Leanne Binkley and by her loving sister, Jane Miles and her husband Bud. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Joshua Conyers, Sarah Conyers, Zachary Binkley, Samantha Conyers, Hayden Conyers and Finn Conyers. Also surviving are her many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many close friends.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. On Thursday morning, October 23, 2025, a visitation with the family will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM followed by her funeral service at 11:00 AM all at the Palmyra Moravian Church, 1921 Cinnaminson Ave., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077. Burial will follow in the Palmyra Moravian Church graveyard. Folks are invited to a luncheon afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palmyra Moravian Church, 1921 Cinnaminson Ave., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077 would be preferred. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.weberfuneralhomeinc.com
