Mary Dolores Johnstone, age 84, of Cinnaminson, NJ passed suddenly on December 8, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden, NJ.
Mary was born to the late Mary (nee' Stubbs) and Joseph Utara, she was born and raised in Tinicum Township area, later moving to Folcroft and Sharon Hill, PA. Later she would move to Philadelphia, PA where she lived for many years before moving to Cinnaminson, NJ about 30-years ago.
Mary was an avid learner and completed her degree at Temple University after which she went on to become an English Teacher and Real Estate Agent. She was inspired to go back to school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, becoming a Registered Nurse.
Mary served her internship at Jefferson Hospital in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit and proudly continued her 40+ year nursing career in the same unit at Jefferson. She was very proud of her nursing career and continued to keep her license active even in her retirement.
Mary and her husband Ed spent many years enjoying the Penn Warner Club Campground in Morrisville, PA where they greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating on their pontoon boat. Mary and Ed also enjoyed hunting in upstate Pennsylvania where, on her very last hunting trip, Mary bagged the only deer out of a group of far more experienced hunters that went.
Mary developed a passion for Korean Culture and loved watching her Korean Dramas and listening to the latest K-Pop Bands. She was an avid reader and always eager to keep learning. In fact she had a curiosity like no other, with a profound interest in researching new technologies, staying on top of the latest trends, and participating in numerous chat groups. She was a proud Progressive Democrat, and huge Philly sports fan, especially of the Flyers, but most of all she was dedicated to her family and would go above and beyond to do anything she could for them.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Johnstone, their son, Edward "Sonny" /"'Eddie" Johnstone and her great-granddaughter, Linnea Bencosme. She is survived by; her beloved daughters, Regina Horner (Joseph), Monica Owens, and Sharon Lenar (Richard); by her granddaughters, Krystal Lenar, Regina Ehlinger (James, Jr.) and her father, Peter Taurino, Gabriella Brown; and by her great-grandchildren, Lily Moody, Lydia Bencosme and Maxine Mary Ehlinger. Mary is also survived by her siblings, William Wright, Patricia Wright and Susan Donaghue and their families, and by her dearest friend, Lois Casey.
A Memorial Service for Mary will be held in the Spring of 2024 and will be announced at a later date.
