Obituary

Norman M. Coone passed away peacefully at his home in Riverton, NJ on August 7, 2025. He was 72.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his wives Jo Ann McKay (d. 2022) and Janice Coone (d. 2009). Norm is survived by his children Michael Coone, Leslie Ann Coone; stepdaughters Jenny Ferroni (Steve) and Laura Spataro (Matt); sisters Marianne Vecchione (Joe) and Sharon Stacy (Raymond); grandchildren Oliver Waite, Lucca Ferroni, Angelina Ferroni, Nicholas Spataro, Lilly Spataro and Jade Ferroni. Norm also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Norm met his wife Janice in Feltonville in the late 70's. Their days were filled with going to the Rec, playing hockey, running, coaching tee ball, family trips to Wildwood, playing baseball for Tiny's Sunset Lounge, lots of love, cruises, and raising a family with two children and a niece. Eventually they moved to Somerton, where they invited Janice's mother and father to live with them. They all lived together in their house (playing a lot of pinochle) on Barlow Street until Janice passed away in 2009.

Norm met Jo Ann in 2011 and wed in 2015. Norm, the self-proclaimed "Sea Isle Kid" enjoyed his time at the beach and was often seen raking the sand and tending to their property on 12th Street, always with a big smile and hello to all who passed. At home, the "Riverton Bad Boy" enjoyed gardening, hanging by the pool, going to flea markets and attending every sporting event the grandkids played. He was known to support other local youth teams, even if his grandkids weren't playing.

Norm was one of a kind. From his quiet acts of kindness to his boisterous cheering at sporting events, he was enjoyed by all who knew him. The mark he has made on his adopted hometowns of Riverton and Sea Isle City will be everlasting as the void he leaves behind could never be filled.

Norm's other family was everyone at Belcher Roofing. Work was his life, and his life was his work. He found a home there. The connections he made there were a priceless part of who he was.

Norm also loved the Lady Senators, playing goalie, shuffleboard bowling at Parkwood, cycling, visiting Phillies Spring Training, cheering on Philly sports teams, spending time on any beach, dancing (he had some pretty good moves), dining out, warm weather, and simply making friends with everyone he met.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a time to share memories and stories beginning at 4:00 PM, all at the WEBER FUNERAL HOME, 112 E. Broad Street, Riverton NJ 08077 (856-829-2700).
