Norman was born on April 25, 1934, in Beverly, NJ to the late Adele (nee Stellwag) and Howard Davenport. He grew up in Riverside, NJ and upon marrying his beloved wife, Shirley B. Davenport (nee Markon) they purchased their home on Alden Ave. in Delran, NJ, where he lived for 73 years.
Norman was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and spent his career as an Oil Burner Technician with Obergfell Fuel, Riverside, NJ. He was a Volunteer, Life Member and Exempt Fireman with the Delran Fire Company No. 2, serving the department and surrounding communities in many roles over the years. He volunteered much of his time to these organizations, including serving as a bar tender, and was also a proud member of the Bartender's Association.
Norm grew up fishing & hunting and continued to enjoy both throughout his life. He and Shirley enjoyed taking long road trips together, especially their annul trips to Scranton, PA to visit with his sister and family. Norman was a lifelong Philly Sports Fan, rooting, especially for his Phillies and Eagles. He always had a "green thumb" and took great pride in his home which he proudly shared with many family and friends when hosting his many picnics where many hours were spent throwing quoits and sharing a few cold beers.
Norman was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley B. Davenport, and by their dear sons, Norman C. Davenport, Jr., Joseph Davenport and Edward J. Davenport, as well as by his sisters, Adell, Doris, Shirley and Margie, and by his brother, Jake. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Gaven and her husband Robert, and by his grandchildren, Heather Davenport and Jake Dunn, Amanda Davenport, Brian and Marissa Davenport, Ryan and Samantha Gaven, Rob Gaven, Tiffany and Nick Hurd, Joey Davenport and Savanna Davenport.
