Obituary

Richard Paul O'Connor of Mount Laurel, N.J. (formerly Palmyra) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the age just 5 months short of 90 years.

Richard was born in Philadelphia on August 12, 1936 to father Raymond Aloysius and mother Mabel Catherine (nee Wade) O'Connor.

For his education, Richard attended St. Joan of Arc until 8th grade in 1951. His high school years were spent at North Catholic High School in Philadelphia until his graduation in June 1955.

He immediately joined the workforce after graduation in 1955. Various employers were Lippincott's Bros., Riverton; Chamberlain's (E-Vacu-Blast), Riverton; Hurst Campbell, Warminster, Pa.; and Anchor Sales Assoc. in South Jersey.

Richard loved his home life; family gatherings and family traditions.

Richard & Maureen's first home was in Philadelphia. While living there they welcomed their first three children: Kathleen ('58), Patricia ('61) and Richard John ('63).

Then in 1966, the family moved to a home in Palmyra, N.J. and welcomed their fourth child, Beth ('68). Their family resided there in Palmyra until the children were grown, on their own and starting families and traditions of their own.

In 2005 Rich and Maureen moved to Holiday Village in Mt. Laurel where they still reside.

In addition to his wife Maureen (nee Thompson) of 69 years, Richard is survived by his loving, faithful children and their families; Kathleen (William Sleister ) of Cherry Hill; Patricia (David Primavera) of Sewell; Richard (Linda Lomas) of Cinnaminson; Beth (Richard Wade) of Maple Shade.

His five grandchildren will sorely miss the grandfather they cherished: Caitlin Maureen; Meghan (Jake Ziegler); Sarah Catherine; Sean Patrick; Ashlyn Catherine.

Richard is so proud that he most recently had a great-grandson born 2023, Benjamin Ryan Ziegler, son of Meghan & Jake.

Richard was predeceased by his brothers Raymond J. O'Connor, and Francis J. Fritz.
