Roger L. Abshire

The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Roger L. Abshire 72, of Palmyra NJ passed away on April 10, 2022.

Roger is now reunited with the love of his life Frances Abshire. Roger and Fran created a loving, giving, pure life together. Their love for each other was unique and unwavering, they had a deep fondness and devotion to each other.  Roger was a Dad and friend to Dawn, loving Pop to Norman and Neil (preceded in death). Second Dad to Daughter in Laws, Heather and Kim.  He was the BEST Pop Pop in the world to Hilary, Norman, Jason, Thomas, Daniel, McKenzie and David.  He was loved so dearly by his Abshire and Ewing Families. He is survived by his brother Ron (Kate) and so many loving nieces and nephews.

Roger made a lasting, loving impression on everyone he met. He was incredibly kind and generous. He was a creator of true community where he loved his friends and neighbors. He considered them family and was dubbed the "Mayor" of Maryland Avenue.  He took so much pride in keeping his street clean and meticulous.

He was a lover of all Philly sports and you could always catch a game and have a cold one with him on the big screen out back. He loved a good party and hosted MANY of them over the years. He was "Pop" to countless friends of the kids over the years and loved them like his own.

Roger was an amazing fur Grandpop too and was deemed the dog whisperer!  Roger also loved fishing and ADORED his new boat! He loved spending time on the boat and loved having company on the river.  Roger served in the United States Navy and had a true love of his Country.

Roger built the foundation to create an absolutely beautiful family. He had an incredible impact on the lives of all of his grandchildren. He was a father figure and special friend to each them.  He instilled his values of loyalty, compassion, honesty, kindness and integrity in his grandchildren. He was an incredible Dad to Dawn. They shared an unparalleled relationship and took great care of each other. He was a very special second Dad to Heather and shared a beautiful bond with his niece Trish.

Those who loved Roger can join in celebrating his life on Friday, April 15, 2022 at The Palmyra Harbour Clubhouse at 2000 Harbour Drive in Palmyra NJ. Greetings from 10:00 am until 11:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to join us for lunch immediately following.
