Obituary

Rosalie Mascio (née Perazza) age 99 passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

One of six children, Rosalie was born in Philadelphia on March 16th, 1922 to Giustino and Teresa Perazza after they and her eldest sister immigrated from Villamagna, Chieti, Italy.

A "Jane" of many trades, she was an artist, early education teacher, lector and eucharistic minister, and assistant manager to a Christian food co-op. Most notably, she served as a draftswoman and machinist at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during WWII where her work was cited with an achievement award by the United States Navy.

A fiery redhead, she was active in women's rights early on and would let you know that she was a woman who was equally as good as a man. As the matriarch, she would entertain her large family with story telling, singing, dancing, and her unforgettable cooking. She shared her love of God and the Catholic Church with everyone she met.  Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph Mascio Jr., and siblings Adelina, John, Marie, and Josephine.

She is survived by her sister, Edith Difato (St. Augustine, F.L.), her four loving children Mari Veneziano (Michael) of Riverton, N.J., Joseph Mascio III (Patricia) of Las Vegas, N.V., Theresa Perry (Philip) of Reading, P.A., and Justin Mascio (Olga) of Sicklerville, N.J., plus 14 grandchildren, Joel, Megan, Regina, Christopher, Leah, Jonathan, Joseph P., Monica, Danielle, Christina, Joseph M. IV, Nicole, Lauren, and Maria. She took great joy in having 16great-grandchildren.
