Ruth (Smith) Ercol of Delran, New Jersey, passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 14, 2026. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Charles "Cap" Ercol and her beloved granddaughter Victoria Ruth Ercol, mother Ethel Markin, sister Shirley Davenport, brother Joseph Smith, son-in-law Robert (Bobby) Horner and stepson Charles "Chuck" Ercol.

Ruth was a graduate of Palmyra High School Class of 1951. She loved her home and enjoyed decorating and making it special for her family. She worked alongside her husband Chollie in their renowned bait and tackle shop, Cap's Tackle.  On the weekends she could be found pursuing yard sales with her best friend Gracie or working in her beautiful yard that was an oasis to many friends and family. She also volunteered at the Lourdes Thrift Shop, Riverside.

Ruth was the proud mother of and survived by her daughter Darleen (Ercol) Hardison, son Guy Ercol and wife Connie (Smekal), brother Walter "Bud" Smith and beloved cousin Grace (Horner) Lewis.

Ruth adored and is survived by her five grandchildren. She filled their lives with support, love, laughter, lots of candy and many precious memories including numerous cruises to tropical islands. George (Missy) Horner, Kyle (Josephine) Horner, Bobbi Jo (Jason) Horner, Cherylin (Joel) Smith, Gabriel (Jennifer) Ercol. She is also survived by her precious great grandchildren George, Gavin, Morgan, Chase, Alexa, Cameron, Claire, Corey, Oliver, Henrietta and Hugo. She is also survived by her step grandchildren Chuck (Lynn) Ercol, Katie Ercol, Alycia Ercol and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

A viewing for Ruth will be held on Monday, May 18th from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am, both at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077.  Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
