Stuart Russell
Headman, Jr.
Nov 15, 1946 — Jun 28, 2026
Stuart Russell Headman, Jr., of Delran, New Jersey, ended his cancer battle on June 28, 2026. He was a husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend whose strength, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for his family defined his life.
Born to Stuart Russell Headman, Sr. and Alberta Wetherill, Stuart grew up in Riverside, New Jersey. He attended Riverside High School before graduating from Rancocas Valley Regional High School with the Class of 1964.
Immediately after graduation, at just 17 years old, Stuart enlisted in the United States Navy. During six years of active duty, he completed two tours during the Vietnam War in 1966 and 1968 as a sonar technician, serving aboard the USS Beale, USS Davis, and USS Massey. He carried great pride in his military service throughout his life.
After returning home, Stuart built a career with New Jersey Bell as a cable splicer, where he worked for 15 years. In 1984, he pursued his entrepreneurial dream by opening and operating his own salon in Rancocas Woods for the next 15 years. Later, wanting a schedule that allowed him to spend more time with his daughters, he became a school bus driver for the Delran School District for six years before retiring.
Above all else, Stuart's greatest accomplishment was his family. He shared 32 years of marriage with his wife, Kelly Headman (Wenzel). Together they built a home filled with love while raising their two daughters, Jesse Harootunian (James Harootunian) and Jodi Pinto (Joseph Pinto).
Nothing brought Stuart more happiness than becoming "Pop" to his two granddaughters, Lillian Harootunian and Jane Stuart Pinto, who filled his life with immeasurable joy and pride. He loved watching them play and laugh around the house his daughters grew up in and swing in the backyard that his daughters did.
Earlier in life he was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending countless memorable days aboard his beloved 40-foot yacht fishing for tuna along the Jersey Shore. One of his proudest catches was a remarkable 300-pound mako shark. Many of his favorite memories were made on the water with Kelly, family, and friends.
Anyone that knew Stuart knows he had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors, his home, and was happiest when he was working in his yard, improving his home, tending to his landscaping and pond, and enjoying nature. Stuart took great pride in building a home for his daughters and was thrilled that Jesse and Jodi purchased homes down the street where he spent countless hours on different projects and drawing blueprints for future projects.
He was also a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan who never missed a game and made sure to let the tv screen know how he was feeling about the game.
Those who knew Stuart also knew his pride and joy on four wheels—his beloved 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, affectionately known as "Black Beauty." Purchased brand new, he faithfully drove it for 37 years, caring for it with the same pride and dedication he brought to everything in life.
His daughters will forever remember his unmistakable saying: "So let it be written, so let it be done." It was a phrase that reflected his straightforward approach to life and became one of the many things Jesse and Jodi will always remember and live by.
Stuart leaves behind his loving wife, Kelly; his daughters, Jesse (James) Harootunian and Jodi (Joseph) Pinto; his cherished granddaughters, Lillian Harootunian and Jane Stuart Pinto; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the strong values he instilled, and the countless laughs and stories shared by all who were fortunate enough to know him. We know he was greeted to his next place by his father, cousin Tommy, and many more family and friends.
A viewing for Stuart will be held on Monday, July 6th from 9:00am to 11:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am, all at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
He will be truly missed by his wife and daughters but know that he fought until the very end. In lieu of flowers please donate to The Wounded Warrior Project to support fellow veterans, a cause that Stuart believed in, at this site - https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate
