Theodore Jackson McCabe of Moorestown, New Jersey, passed away in the presence of the family he loved on Sunday, September 24, he was 81.

A native of Georgetown, Delaware, he was the son of the late C. Russell and Agnes Donaway McCabe. A member of the Georgetown High School Class of 1961, he was a gifted athlete and fierce competitor in sports including wrestling, football, and baseball. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. After basic training at Great Lakes Naval Station, he was assigned to the crew of the aircraft carrier USS Essex. With a record of distinguished service beginning in World War II, the ship was a key participant in the blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. Mr. McCabe was later transferred to the Naval Air Transport Squadron at McGuire AFB, where he served as a jet aircraft servicing technician and completed his naval career.

Following discharge Ted worked for Sherman Car Wash Industries in Palmyra for 28 years and retired from Korman Residential Properties after 17 years of employment.

He continued his life-long interest in sports as a die-hard fan of the Phillies and Eagles.

The youngest of four children, Mr. McCabe was preceded in death by his brothers Harold E. and Charles J. McCabe, and sister Mildred McCabe Pusey. He is survived by his three children, Kelly C. McCabe (Mario), Marc J. McCabe (Dana) and Kristin M. McCabe-Terres (Roger), seven grandchildren, Samantha (Thomas), Sydni, Ryan, Maille, Chase, Maxim and Tegan and his great granddaughter, Brooklyn all of whom loved their "Pop" dearly and will miss him forever.

Known for his optimism, good humor and that big smile, he was a kind and gentle soul whose love was unconditional. He loved a good joke, liked to prank others and was always a great sport when pranks were pulled on him.  He made lifelong friends with his co-workers, many of whom became family. His presence was a gift, and he will be missed and never forgotten by the ones he loved, who loved him in return.
