Thomas F.
Murtagh
Mar 7, 1956 — Nov 12, 2023
Thomas F. "Murt" Murtagh, 67, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a resident of Cinnaminson for 30 years.
Murt lived each day like it was a party. An educator for over 35 years, Murt was a teacher, administrator, mentor, and coach to many. The majority of his career was spent dedicated to the students and staff of BCIT West Tech, where he was a physical education teacher, coach, athletic director, and vice principal. He was an avid soccer fan and loved to cheer on local teams in his spare time. Murt enjoyed spending his time at his summer home with his family and friends in Beach Haven West, especially the Drew Crew. He loved to go crabbing in Turtle Cove, listen to his favorites like The Rolling Stones, The Talking Heads, and The Kinks, and play harmonica at his very own VooDoo Lounge. He was loved by all who knew him and had countless friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
Murt was the beloved husband of Elaine Murtagh and loving father to Devon Murtagh (Pierce Lilholt) and Thomas Murtagh, Jr (Rachel Kristine). He was a devoted grandfather to four fur babies, Watson, Dany, Lemon, and Pepper.
Murt is predeceased by his parents, John and Clare Murtagh, and siblings, Lawrence Murtagh (Peggy) and Geraldine McCole (the late James). He is survived by his siblings Clare Mlynarczyk, Regina Camm (the late Eugene), John Murtagh (Patricia), Sheila Trampe (Dennis), Joseph Murtagh (Sue), Mary Novalski (Jerome), and Rosemarie Brown (Michael). He is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
