Obituary

Thomas W. Potesta, affectionately known as “Tommy,” of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2026, at the age of 37.

Born in Willingboro, New Jersey, to Lawrence and Martha Potesta, Tommy was a proud graduate of Cherry Hill High School West, Class of 2008. He went on to build a career with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where he was a valued colleague and formed lasting friendships throughout the years.

Known for his sharp sense of style, his unwavering loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles, and a personality that was unmistakably his own, Tommy had a way of leaving an impression on those around him. Whether impeccably dressed or passionately cheering on his favorite team, he embraced the things he loved and carried himself with a presence that was uniquely Tommy.

Above all, Tommy loved his family and friends deeply, and he was never shy to tell them. Tommy was a son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His life was intertwined with so many others, and while his time here was far too short, the memories made and the love shared will remain with those who knew him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Potesta, his maternal grandparents, Mary and William Hoare and his aunt, Joan Asselin. He is survived by, Samantha Ruvolo; his beloved daughter, Brooklyn Potesta; his mother, Martha Potesta (née Hoare); his sister, Aimee Potesta; his nephew, Connor; his nieces, Madelyn and Charleigh; his sister-in-law, Sydni Johnson; his uncle, Dave Asselin; and many extended family members, dear friends, and colleagues.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Tommy’s life on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.

Though Tommy’s story ended far sooner than anyone could have imagined, his memory will live on through the people who loved him, the lives he touched, and especially through his daughter, Brooklyn, who will forever carry a part of him with her.
