Virginia Mary
Kaplan
Apr 30, 1951 — Nov 5, 2025
Virginia Mary Kaplan, age 74, of Atlantic City, NJ passed peacefully on November 5, 2025.
Virginia was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 30, 1951, to Virginia B. (nee' Gift) and Thomas J. Kaplan. Born with developmental disabilities, Virginia thrived with the love and care of her family, including her beloved uncle, Joseph R. Kaplan.
For many years, Virginia was an active member with Our Lady of Confidence Social Club of Philadelphia, which held numerous activities and dances. She eventually moved to New Jersey and lived in Willingboro, Mays Landing and for the past several years lived at the Beachview Residences in Atlantic City. Over the years she participated in many programs supported by area ARC associations and enjoyed attending the Active Day Program.
Virginia had a creative mind and always had her notebook with her that she would use to write her notes and numbers, as well as create and color her drawings. Virginia made friends easily and was fortunate to have many close friends throughout her life. She was especially close with the caring staff members at Active Day, Beachview.
Virginia was predeceased by her father, Thomas James Kaplan, her mother, Virginia B. Dunsmore, and her stepfather, Gerard Dunsmore. She was also predeceased by her uncle, Joseph Raymond Kaplan, who was like a father to her, by her brother, Thomas James Kaplan, Jr., and by her longtime companion, Steven Frank.
Virginia is survived by her loving sister, Dianne Priest and husband, William Priest, and by her sister-in-law, Patricia Kaplan. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Amy Scherrer and husband Fred Pritchard, Kevin Potts, Olivia Kaplan, Thomas J. Kaplan, III and wife Emily Kaplan, Taylor Kaplan and wife Jenny Kaplan, and Katherine Kaplan, as well as her seven great-nieces ang great-nephews.
