Walter F.
Cincotta, Jr.
Mar 1, 1943 — Feb 28, 2023
On Tuesday, February 28, 2023 Walter F. Cincotta, Jr. loving husband and father of three, passed away 30 minutes shy of his 80th birthday.
Walt was born on March 1, 1943 in Philadelphia PA to Greta and Walter Cincotta, Sr.
He attended Philadelphia schools before joining the Army in 1961 where he served in France for 3 years. In 1965, Walt married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara. Married for 58 years, Barbara and Walt's first date, much to their children's delight, was in 1956 at a Boy Scout Roller Skating Event. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Cinnaminson, NJ to raise their family. A man of few words, Walt had a wicked sense of humor and many hobbies and interests. Childhood summers spent exploring the wilds of Cape May Courthouse, to teen years working at Connie's corner store in Mayfair, to learning to sail and race at the Riverton Yacht Club - he filled his days with adventure and fun. Sailing was a special interest that took him on excursions up and down the Chesapeake Bay, the Delaware River and out of Brigantine, NJ. He was also very involved in his children's activities - as a Boy Scout leader, a founding member of the Cinnaminson PAL in-town soccer league for girls in the mid-seventies, and co-leading an outdoor interest group for his daughters to share his love of sports, the outdoors, and camping with the next generation.
After his time in the Army, Walt returned to Philadelphia and began his 29 year career at Sears, where he started as an electrician eventually becoming the Superintendent of Facilities of the Sears Roosevelt Boulevard Complex. He took great pride in overseeing this 25 million square foot facility - the largest in all of Philadelphia. After retiring from Sears, Walt worked in a variety of places, including owning a commercial cleaning business, working as a Director of Facilities at a large Atlantic City casino, assisting customers at Sherwin-Williams, and driving the pumpkin patch tractor at Johnson's Farm.
Walt is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; children, Lynn (Ted) Bresnahan of Riverton, NJ, Keith (Jessica) Cincotta of Hopewell, NJ and Robin (Jamie) Ford of Allentown, NJ; grandchildren: Danny, Ellie and Maggie Bresnahan; Anna, Matthew and Nicholas Cincotta; and Frank, Claire, Ryan and Megan Ford.
