William Dale Allen, Jr., age 60, of Ellendale, DE, formerly of Mt. Laurel, NJ, passed suddenly on March 1, 2024.
Bill was born in Riverside, NJ and grew up in Delran, NJ. He enlisted in the US Navy when he was just 18 and proudly served his Country. Following his time in the Navy, Bill began his career with Public Service Electric & Gas (PSEG). Bill spent 36 years at PSEG, retiring as an Operations Supervisor based in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Following his retirement, Bill and his wife Deborah relocated to Ellendale, DE, where they became very active members of Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, DE. Bill and Deb volunteered for many activities at their church serving a greeters, volunteering in the kitchen, Sunday School, and the SOS Ministry. Bill also enjoyed spending time working on their home and property where he could be found riding his tractor, tending to their chickens and hanging out in his garage. Bill was also very handy, especially with electrical work and carpentry, and always helped his family and many friends with their projects. He also enjoyed working at the local Tractor Supply store in Seaford, DE. Most of all Bill loved his family and being with them.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Joan A. (nee' Panico) and William Dale Allen, Sr., his brother, Michael D. Allen, and his beloved dog, Max. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of more than 24 years, Deborah N. Allen (nee' Norcross), his daughter Jamie Francisco (Lee), his sons, John Brooks, and Nicholas D. Allen (Jessica DeFeo). Also surviving are his dear grandchildren, Lucian, Ronan and Odin William Francisco, his siblings, Donna Norcross (Howard) and Mark Allen, and brother-in-law Robert Norcross (Andrew McIntosh). He is also survived by his nephew and nieces, Bryan (Stacey), Carmen, Gina (Lyman), Scott and Sidney, along with several great nieces and great nephews and Katherine Begley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Celebration Service at 7:00 PM, all at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Additionally, a Memorial Gathering and Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd., Georgetown, DE 19947, with visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by the service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd., Georgetown, DE 19947 would be preferred. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with his family at www.weberfuneralhomeinc.com
