William G. Barksdale, Jr., age 89, of Mt. laurel, passed away March 25, 2021.  Predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Carol, he is survived by his daughter, Beth (Kurt) Schill of Cinnaminson, his son James, his brothers, Charlie and John and several nieces and nephews.  He is the grandfather of Kursten and TJ.  William was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia and his brother, Bob.

Born in Philadelphia on April 23, 1931, William later went on to serve the Navy as a medic during the Korean War.  After the war, he attended the Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University), and went on to work for the Department of Defense, from which he retired in 1989.  He was also an amateur artist who loved to paint pictures of faces, especially of celebrities.  He was a kindhearted man who loved to spend his days chatting with friends and neighbors in at his condo community.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Senior Helpers of Cherry Hill, 1060 Kings Hwy N #100, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034, Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Marlton, NJ 08053, or to an art program in your local school district.
